Four Tips for Using pH Buffers
Your buffer must be able to neutralize contaminants and help your application retain its stated value. Solutions of known pH value allow you to adjust your system to read accurate measurements. For best accuracy, store buffers away from direct sunlight. Here are a few more tips:
- Perform standardization with fresh buffer solutions
- Use buffers that frame the range of pH for the samples being tested
- Ensure buffers are at the same temperature as your samples. (For instance, if all your samples are at 50°C, warm your buffers to 50°C using a beaker in a water bath.)
- Buffer values depend upon temperature
