Samsung Unveils RS85A, a New Premium General Ultrasound
Samsung received FDA clearance and is unveiling its new RS85A general purpose premium ultrasound system. It features the company’s technologies such as MV-Flow, which lets clinicians see flow through micro vascularized structures and help diagnose cancer in many cases, and S-Shearwave Imaging (shown above), a shearwave elastography technique which quantifies tissue elasticity, particularly useful when looking for breast and liver tumors.
The device was made to help reduce clinicians’ fatique and to perform exams faster. The monitor arm, for example, has a greater range of motion and tilt, allowing the screen to be positioned for easy visibility while scanning the patient. Additionally, actions that previously required multiple button presses and know adjustments, can now be performed with less input from the user.ons.
- MV-Flow™: Allows for visualization of slow-flow micro vascularized structures, which can be difficult to assess with conventional power Doppler ultrasound. It also provides clinicians an additional way to check lesions for indications of cancer or inflammation.
- S-Shearwave Imaging™: Provides new indicators for clinical diagnosis by quantifying the elasticity of tissue or lesions via shearwave elastography, which may help increase the accuracy of diagnosis for breast and liver diseases.
- CEUS+™: Diagnoses and characterizes lesions in the liver using a contrast agent in adult and pediatric populations.
- S-Fusion™: Enables simultaneous localization of a lesion using real-time ultrasound in conjunction with other volumetric imaging modalities such as an MRI or a CT, while expanding its capabilities to the prostate gland for precise, targeted biopsy guidance.
