Konica Minolta Launch Lighter, More Robust Radiography Detector
Konica Minolta has launched the AeroDR Premium, which it claims is the world’s lightest cassette-type digital radiography detector. Added to this the new detector has been designed to be more robust and has a international waterproof rating of IPX6. Weighing just 2.6 kg the AeroDR Premium is extremely light, almost 10 percent lighter than the conventional AeroDR 1417HQ series. This should help alleviate some of the strain placed on radiographers who often have to hold the cassette-type DR detector with one arm as they support the patient with the other during exposure. The decrease in weight was achieved by reviewing the housing and component designs.
According to the company, many clients have expressed a need for a more robust product capable of handling the increasing demands placed on it, be that in the operating room or at the scene of a disaster. Konica Minolta has improved the device’s ability to withstand load and drop impact and has added waterproof features to increase its robustness.
