Precision Pumping with Metering Pumps
Need to transfer precise volumes of liquid in a specified time? Also require a high degree of accuracy? Metering pumps, a type of positive displacement pump, may be your solution.
Cole-Parmer® High-Volume Single-Head Diaphragm Pump
From diaphragm pumps to peristaltic pumps to gear pumps to piston pumps, the metering pump transfers media by:
- The intake stroke: the inlet side of the pump is opened, the outlet side closed and liquid is pulled in to the pump cavity
- The outlet stroke: the inlet side of the pump is closed, the outlet side opened and liquid is forced out
Typically, a metering pump is a good choice when:
- Flow rates are LPH or less
- Media is high viscosity or slurry
- High accuracy dosing or movement of media is necessary
- High system pressure
- Pumping needs to be controlled by computer, PLC, or flow proportioning
Syringe pumps are another type of metering pump for high accuracy delivery of ultra low flows.
