Understanding Micropump Gear Pump Technology
Micropump® gear pumps provide pulseless flow at moderate to high pressures, plus they offer the added advantage of leak- and contamination-free pumping.
Unlike conventional gear pumps that use mechanical shaft seals, magnetically coupled Micropump pumps have no seals, eliminating the heat-generating frictional wear that can result in leaks and contamination. All low-flow, standard, and high-flow pump heads are compatible with a variety of drives and are available in cavity-style and pressure loaded models.
Cavity-Style Pump Heads depend on the surrounding fluid pressure in the magnetic cup to maintain a tight seal between the gear teeth. Choose these pump heads for applications requiring suction lift, frequent cycling, or a pressurized inlet.
Pressure-Loaded Pump Heads have a suction shoe positioned around the inlet. Higher pressure in the magnetic cup relative to the inlet side holds the gears and suction shoe tightly together. This design increases volumetric accuracy by ensuring complete fluid transfer with no backflow or leakage between gear tips. Since the pump efficiency increases as discharge pressure increases, pressure-loaded pump heads are ideal for applications requiring high initial differential pressures and precise flow rates.
