Lucid M1 Transcranial Ultrasound Cleared in Europe to Help Assess Brain Damage
The Lucid M1 from Neural Analytics (LA, CA), an ultrasound brain damage assessment system that we named as one of Medgadget’s Best Medical Technologies of 2016, has now received European Union CE Mark clearance. The Lucid M1 utilizes Doppler ultrasound to help evaluate blood flow through the brain and to detect broken blood vessels. It can allow hospitals to quickly decide what to do with incoming patients and get to diagnosis and treatment faster.
The Lucid M1 is a battery powered touchscreen Windows computer with a connected ultrasound probe. The software that does blood flow analysis was originally developed at University of California, Los Angeles, and the company licenses it from them.
“The development of accurate and portable brain monitoring technology like the Lucid System is critical to expanding brain care in the 21st century,” said Dr. Kyriakos Lobotesis, Neuroradiologist at the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, UK, in a statement. “Healthcare professionals will be able to utilize this diagnostic tool in a variety of clinical settings to accurately measure the brain’s blood fl
