AliveCor Now Combines ECG, Omron’s BP Data In Single App

Last week we published our interview with Omron President and CEO Ranndy Kellogg about the efforts his company has undertook to allow app designers to access data from Omron’s blood pressure monitors and pedometers. Following up on that we just got news that AliveCor, maker of popular smartphone-powered ECG accessories, will be integrating blood pressure data from compatible Omron devices into its Kardia Mobile app on the iPhone and a bit later on Android devices.

The BP cuffs and AliveCor’s single lead ECG devices have been validated in clinical practice to provide accurate readings and combining data from both in a single app allows for a more comprehensive review of a patient’s cardiovascular wellbeing.

“Giving patients the ability to monitor two vital heart health statistics for stroke in one place has the opportunity to be life-changing,” said Dr. David Albert, Founder and Chief Medical Officer at AliveCor, in a statement. “With this combined data, patients can change their most important modifiable risk factor, blood pressure, and seek the right care that could improve heart health and prevent a stroke. Today we are one step closer to achieving our mission of making the ECG a vital statistic for not just cardiologists, but patients, physicians and caregivers.”
